“Development of Sustainable Cities in Indonesia: Multi-sectoral Perspectives Towards Achieving Prosperity & Self-Reliance”
To commemorate the 30th year anniversary, the Department of Urban and Regional Planning (URP) Diponegoro University will organize various events, one of them is International Seminar. The internasional seminar will be presenting a following theme "Development of Sustainable Cities in Indonesia: Multi-sectoral Perspectives Towards Achieving Prosperity & Self-Reliance".
Speakers who will attend include Bambang Susantono, Ph.D, Chairman of Nusantara Capital City Authority (IKN)who will be the Keynote Speaker for this event. As the Keynote Speaker, he will explain the planning strategy for the Nusantara Capital City Authority (IKN). The discussion points included the basic considerations for establishing the IKN 'Nusantara', alternative financing for the development of IKN 'Nusantara' other than the state budget/local budget (APBN/APBD), the progress of 'Nusantara' master plan preparation, and the importance of Urban and Regional Planning theory and application for designing the IKN 'Nusantara'.
Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Eng. Miguel Esteban from Waseda University Tokyo, Japan, will explain about urban resilience based on case studies of DKI Jakarta and future strategies. Prof. Dr. Benjamin McLellan from Kyoto University, Japan, will present "Energy System Planning for Sustainable Cities in Indonesia as an Effort Towards Energy Independence".
Prof. Dr.sc.agr. Iwan Rudiarto as the Head of Indonesian Planning Schools Association (ASPI) will share about “Responsible and Smart Land Management as a Review of Urban Planning and Development in Indonesia”.
URP Undip alumnus, Dr. Aretha Aprilia as the Head of United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Jakarta, will also deliver a presentation on the development of an integrated solid waste system for cities and regencies in Indonesia with a 'cradle to the grave' perspective.Head of Urban and Regional Planning Department of Undip,
Prof. Dr. -Ing. Wiwandari Handayani will be the moderator of this International Seminar.
This seminar is a form of commitment from the Department of Urban and Regional Planning to contribute to further Indonesian and global urban development, by looking at new breakthroughs related to sustainable urban development in Indonesia, viewed from various multi-sectoral perspectives.

The International Seminar will be held on Saturday, 14th May 2022 at 09.00 WIB (Western Indonesia Time) and conducted in a hybrid mode which will takes place in the Theater Room, Department of Urban and Regional Planning Diponegoro University (Undip) and via Zoom platform. This activity is open to the public and participants can choose free or paid options.
